The Shiv Chatrapati award is a prestigious award given to the eminent personalities of sports. This is also known as the Shiv Chatrapati State Sports Award and is given by the Government of Maharashtra for encouraging the new generation of youth to participate in sports. The Shiv Chhatrapati award winners list is announced by the Maharashtra Government every year. Both men and women are eligible for receiving the Shiv Chatrapati award. The award was first introduced by the Maharasthra Government in the year 1969-1970.
Eligibility: Any sports personalities from Maharashtra who have exceptional performance at the national and international level are eligible for this award. Sportsmen, Divyang sportsmen, or sports coaches all are honored with this prestigious award.
Criteria of selection: The Maharashtra state government appoints a committee to review the achievement of athletes from the list of nominations and select the awardee’s name.
Distribution of award: Awards were distributed by the hands of Maharashtra State Governor Ramesh Bais at the Shiv Chhtrapati Sports Complex of Balewadi, Pune. The award ceremony is celebrated in the presence of the honorable chief minister, deputy chief minister, Minister of Aports and Youth Welfare, and other veteran personalities of the state Ministry Department of Maharashtra.
