- R. Ravi Kannan from India was among the four recipients of the 65th Ramon Magsaysay Award Winners. He is the renowned surgical oncologist who has created a revolution in cancer treatment in Assam by his people-centric approach and pro-poor program.
- Rakshand Korvi from Bangladesh won the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his excellent contribution in promoting quality education. He had encouraged the country’s youth tremendously for active participation in quality education. He established the “JAAGO” foundation for the education of underprivileged children.
- Lemos, Eugenio from Timor-Leste, was nominated as the 65th Ramon Magsaysay Award winner. He had received this prestigious award for the environmental awareness program and intense involvement in protecting the indigenous culture of Timor-Leste by enlightening the path of independent and sustainable food supply.
- Coronel-Ferrer, Miriam, from the Philippines, won the 65th Ramon Magsaysay Award for acting as a woman peace negotiator. She had a major contribution in building peaceful resolution to many armed conflicts that might lead to division of the country.
The Ramon Magsaysay Award had been given to six major categories: government service, public service, community leadership , journalism, literature and communication arts, peace and international understanding, and emergent leadership until 2008. Since the year 2009, there had been no fixed category of award except “emergent leadership.”
