The AICTE Vishwakarma Awards 2020 is being organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on India’s Economic Recovery Post Covid; Reverse Migration and Rehabilitation Plan to support “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Nurturing new student talent in order to have students of AICTE approved institutions contribute to the Indian economy during the economic recovery amid COVID-19, the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) organized the Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2020.
Launch & Participation
The Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2020 was launched officially on 17 September 2020 by the Honourable Minister of the Human Resource Development, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal inviting students to provide plausible solutions to the challenges faced in the pandemic era. Available to all students of AICTE-approved institutions, participantsŠ below entered their entries through an online portal. The details of registration and concept note were made available on the AICTE site.
Objective
The idea of the awards was to recognize the young student talent and motivate them to nurture their national development as stated in the AICTE documents. The objectives of Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2020 were to:
- Reward and encourage great innovation and problem solving.
- Empower the young people to add value to economic revival and autonomy.
- Involve students in valuable projects related to problems in the real world.
Highlights & Outcomes
Although more detailed lists of winners in the 2020 awards cannot be found in their large numbers yet, there were a few inspiring stories of participants flowing to the surface:
One of the teams, MAX MILL, of a mechanical engineering department, was present on a national scale- there was a prototype demonstration of a mini-CNC machine in line with the theme of SME promotion and AatmaNirbhar Bharat. Hon’ble Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appreciated their work.
- Institutions such as Anand Pharmacy College were among those to be recognized: Assistant Professor Mital Patel was awarded the AICTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards 2020 in their contribution.
