Jadav Payeng life began in 1979 after witnessing dying snakes on the sandbar prompting him to plant bamboo. He belongs to Assam, India with his wife and 3 children, and used to live at a house which he built inside his forest. He encountered a large number of snakes that had died due to excessive heat after floods washed them onto the tree-less sandbar. And his efforts resulted in the creation of the Molai forest, that’s a biodiversity hotspot.
